39th Management Committee Nominees

Farah Ramjoo Hello fellow Engineering friends! I am Farah Ramjoo. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and I am hopeful of becoming the Business (Venture) Director for Engin Club. I believe I am a caring, loving and fun person. However, when it comes to work I am a very committed individual. I was given Service to the School Award this college day in my former Junior College for leading VJ Drama Club with the role of a President. In addition, together with a team, I organised Singapore Model Cabinet 2015. It was a Nation-wide conference held in collaboration with the People’s Association. The key lesson I took away through the different experiences was that hard work and dedication can make wonders happen. I have learned more about the commitment level it takes to get the concerns and issues of the student body. I aspire to leverage on my experience to bring positive change to the Faculty of Engineering through Engin Club. With your support, I will do my best to voice the concerns of and represent each and every one of you. Please give me this opportunity and vote for me! Thank you

Hello everybody, and nice to meet you! My name is Jodie and I am a year 2 Chemical Engineering student. I'm an ENFP -- so that means I'm extroverted, and love meeting and making friends with people! (I don't get what the other letters mean to be honest.... Oops!) I also find a lot of joy being able to serve a community I love a lot, in the faculty of engineering! I ask for your fullest support, and see you all around in school!

Year 1 Student from MSE, Zhao Shu, or better known as simply 'Zhao'. A highly detail-oriented individual, cautiously strategic and maybe even over-analytical. Having a considerable and extensive amount of experience in the service industry, she is a tactful server that you can trust with all and any of your concerns and needs, as they would be placed no where but the top of her list. Passionate about organisation and even more so about puns; you can already guess that there's no other candidate more suitable to 'Zhao'* for Academic Director.   (*Zhao means run in the Hokkien dialect)

I am Marcus and it is my first year in Chemical Engineering. I was in Hwa Chong Institution for six years and throughout these years, I was in Chinese Drama; as an actor, director and also part of the committee. My pastimes include gym, playing Frisbee and basketball. I also like to trek as I feel it is very therapeutic. My most memorable trekking experience was trekking to the summit of Yu Shan in Taiwan, where my legs cramped and I thought I wasn’t going to make it. I participated in EnginRAG’2016 and it was a blast. The experience was amazing and I made many valuable friends. I was from LA Hiphop and the Finale performance, both of which was awesome. In the future, I hope to complete my diving quest; aiming to become at least a Dive Master before I graduate from NUS and to dive beyond South East Asia.

Your life as a student in NUS is one of the most important things you will take away with you when you graduate from NUS Engineering. This is the main reason why I have decided to step up as your Student Life Director in Engineering Club. I have had past leadership experiences and I hope to further broaden my perspectives here in NUS, where everything happens on a larger scale.     I feel that Student Life is very broad and has great potential to expand and grow. I would introduce small scale events/ giveaways in addition to Engin Day, on occasions such as Halloween or even Good Friday. If there is anything you would like to suggest to improve YOUR student life, you can AWAYS approach me and I promise to try my best to accommodate them. Put your trust in me and I am sure that I will not let you down!

Hi I'm Hong Yan from MSE Year 2. Some of you may know me as I've went to about 7 camps and joined RAG during the holidays. The first ever camp I joined as a senior was Engin Camp as OGL. It was an experience that I'll never forget and have learnt a lot from it. Ever since then, I have open up a lot more.  During RAG I was the financial secretary and that's partly why I'm joining EnginClub as the same role this year as well. I hope that you'll give me a chance to perform and serve in EnginClub, thank you

Hi, I am Wei Yin, Year 2 Computer Engineering Student and I’m running for the role of Publications Director. Some of you may know me from the various FOPs, such as EnginCamp and EnginRag. I had a fun summer last year as a freshie in these two programmes. They were fun and enriching experiences for me, allowing me to integrate more easily into the NUS Engineering Environment and make many friends before the school year started. Therefore, I decided to come back as a councillor and senior the recent summer for these two programmes, hoping to create another fun and fulfilling experience for the freshies this year. Now, I want to run for EnginClub because I want to help the 39th Main Committee in maintaining and improving on the inclusive environment for the current Engineering students. Please trust in my abilities and vote for me! Thank you!

Some of you must be thinking, "Why this Kaung so crazy as to run for Engin Club again when Rag just finished not so long ago? Doesn't he want a break from all these leadership roles for a while?" Well,to that my answer is I don't run for the fame and glory. I run for the people. My time in the 38th MC made me realize there are students in Engineering who are willing to go the extra mile to better the lives of our students. Seeing them sacrifice their time and efforts to plan so far ahead for events that only last a few days (or for some even just one day) inspired me to do the same.     As a senior running to be part of the Presidential Cell,my hope is that I would be able to inspire a new batch of leaders by showing them the way. I believe having faith in people and guiding them to maximize that potential is one of the core pillars of leadership, and I aim to do so not just with the Directors I will be advising directly, but others whom I come to work with.

Hi, my name is Ang Wei Xiang. I am a year 1 student and I’m studying in Electrical Engineering. The main reason why I would like to be given this opportunity to join Engin Club is because I want to stretch my boundaries and allow myself to step up to challenges by holding an appointment inside the club (Assistant Financial Secretary). Being someone who has handled accounts in the past, together with my boss (Financial Secretary), we will ensure that the accounts inside Engin Club are managed properly and that the funds used will definitely benefit the whole Engin Family. On top of that, I can also play my part in voicing issues that various Engineering departments may face to the committee and in turn address those pressing issues by working as a team to come up with the best possible solutions. This can help create a more conducive study environment for Engin students, and at the same time give them the opportunity to enjoy their days as a university student. I hope that I will be given this honor to serve the student body and to venture out of my comfort zone to do something great for the Engin community. Thank you

I am an enthusiastic individual who strives to do his best whenever I am given a task or responsibility. I really enjoyed myself when I participated in RAG '16, which is what made me decide to run for RAG PD as I want to allow the freshies attending next year's RAG to have a similar or even better experience than I had. I trust that I will be able to achieve that through my set of skills and experiences gained from RAG '16.

Hey there! I’m Matthew currently a year 1 mechanical engineering student in NUS. Nice to meet you. First of all, I’ll like to take this time to thank you for stopping over to read this. Faculty. Community. Family. This are the defining facts of the Faculty of Engineering for me. Engin Club MC election was never a competition for ready-made talents, but rather to me many individuals who are willing to take a great leap out of their comfort zones and to discover that they are capable of much more. We are just your ordinary students trying to make a change and an impact to our faculty. “We were made for these times.” Learning and acquiring skills isn’t easy. But through all the sweat, tears and late nights, we should remember that we were made for these times. To solve and to improve. And I believe FoE is able to meet the mark, and I am truly excited to see how we are able to make a difference here and now. To cut the story short, I am greatly eager to serve the engineering faculty and would like to engage with you the student population on how we can improve Engin as a whole. Engin is unique and it definitely has potential for more. Change starts with you, and me. Because trust me, I’m an engineer.

I am Fang Yuan, currently in Year 2 Electrical Engineering. I am running for the Public Relations Director for Engin Club 39th Management Committee. I am taking up this challenge because I believe that my experience can help me produce quality content for Engin Club, be it our official webpage, publicity material, or just an interesting post to help Engin students de-stress in everyday life. I have been in the field of photography since 2011, and had set foot in sufficiently diverse aspects of Visual Arts for me to know what the best elements are to use for building up a good image for different organisations. I am confident that I am able to vividly portray and document our vibrant campus experience as Engineering students, and I hope that in my term, I am able to leave some precious moments captured for your reminiscence in the years to come.

Dear fellow Engineering students, I am a second year Mechanical Engineering student and also served in the 38th Management Committee as the Business Venture Director. My previous role involved the sale of faculty merchandise to generate funds to facilitate in the running of activities organized by the club. Looking back, I felt the greatest sense of pride and achievement when the launch of the 60th Anniversary Commemorative T-shirt was so well received. It was a reward in itself when I saw an increasing number of students proudly wearing the new designs that my committee and I worked so hard to produce. This also further inspired me to take up the role of the President as I would want the incoming 39th Management Committee to experience the same satisfaction I had when serving the student population. Your vote represents an affirmation of a candidate’s ability to represent your interests in decisions that directly affect your experience in NUS. I seek your faith and trust that I will discharge my duties and responsibilities to the very best of my abilities. Thank you for your diligence in reviewing the potential candidates and I hope to get your vote of approval!

I am a passionate leader in the events I commit to. My involvements were in large scale in terms of both national and international events such as SEA Games 2015 (Assistant Workforce Manager) and WTA Finals (Venue Support Leader) 2014.  I had been invited to the Istana twice for a tea reception and NDP reception with the President of Singapore and as well as the Members of Parliament in the years 2014 and 2015 in recognition as an International Volunteer and for helping .   I have been closely involved with the Engineering Club under 3 sub committees - Welfare, Public Relations and Sports (Project Director for EnginRun16). Having the experience from these has really benefited me in understanding in the preparation behind the scenes and the execution procedures to ensure the students of the faculty enjoy the event and the welfare giveaway especially for them.       After this one year term, I believe I can be your General Honorary Secretary to guide and advise my fellow Directors in ensuring only the best is outreached to you! :)

To all my fellow engineering students out there, a big HELLO to all of you. I am Guannan, a year 2 mechanical engineering student. I will be running for the role as financial secretary. Financial secretary provide advice to the project directors on how they can allocate or use the money effectively. It has always been my interest to handle financial transactions. Serving under the Business Venture committee as a treasurer has allowed me to understand the basics of handling money and the necessary paper work that has to be done so that every cent that the committee gets or spends will be on track. I have been working closely with the business venture committee members and most importantly the director. Furthermore, I took up the role as the head of costumes under Engin RAG which has tested the strength of my character. It requires multi-tasking, effective communication and strong organizational skills that are essential to being a financial secretary and I am very appreciative that RAG has given me this opportunity to develop these skills. Nothing is more important than seeing the engineering population thrive and thank you so much for giving me the chance to serve you!

Nothing is more important than seeing the engineering population thrive and thank you so much for giving me the chance to serve you!
